Beauty Acupuncture (Facial Acupunctuur rejuvenation)

Also known as Cosmetic Acupunctuur or Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture. In Chinese, it’s called ‘Mei Rong ZhenJiu’ (TCM cosmetology)

These practices were applied on the Chinese Empress and the nobels.  Thanks to a report in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture in 1996, the effects of Facial Acupuncture filed :

” improvement of the elasticity of facial muscles, leveling of wrinkles, and overall rejuvenation–not confined to face.”

[* Meridional Cosmetology: Report of 300 Cases with Discussion of Underlying Mechanism. International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture, Vol 7, No 4.]

In 300 cases treated with Facial Acupuncture, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment (12-20 sessions).

Cosmetic Acupuncture can benefit:

  • Reduction of appearance of fine lines
  • Tightening of neck
  • Better muscle tone of cheeks and jowls
  • Promote circulation, leading to better oxygenation of the skin
  • Enhance collagen production
  • Lifting of drooping eyelids
  • Improvement in acne
  • Less visible pores

How long is a course of treatment ?

A person between 50 and 65, it’s suggested 12 times.  The first 3 weeks twice a week and 1 a week thereafter.

If a person has had a lot of sun exposure or has a history of smoking, the course will be 20-24 visits.

Persons often can notice a difference after even one session!

Session last around 1 hr 15 minutes.  It’s recommended to have this treatment as maintenance purpose every 4-6 weeks thereafter.

Side effects, recovery and results

During the first session, it depends on the treated areas, you can expect to have between 20-25 needles inserted into the surface of the skin.  For a beautifying acupuncture treatment, fewer needles will be used to target problem areas mostly around the eyes and mouth.

Most report that cosmetic acupuncture is painless, while others might experience slight stinging sensations, mile pain or discomfort.

There is minimal side effects and virtually no downtime. Minor bruising at the puncture site is possible, as if mild discomfort, most people are able to return to daily life immediately after the session.
